3.06 ghz duo core vs. 2.7 ghz i5 quad
I’m running Logic Pro x and want to know if I will see a performance increase running a later model i5 2.7ghz quad core over my old 3.06 dual core

Also, I am doing professional audio production (LOGIC PRO X AND several plugin); my sessions are not usually to large (avg. 16-30 tracks), but I use a lot of plugins..I’m wondering if a 2 core 3ghz i7 with two virtual cores would perform better than the 4 core 2.7 2013 iMac ....not sure if virtual cores are as good as having an actual core
FWIW, you can compare the performance of various Macs, both in single-core and multi-core modes here…
Hi there,
What year is your iMac, and what year is the "2.7 GHz i5" iMac?
Cheers,
Jack
Late 2009 Cor 2 Duo ....3.06 ghz imac
The 2.7 ghz i5 are 2012’s and 2013 iMacs
