Using MacBook Air (13.3" Early 2015) with 27" Apple Display (A1407) while closed?

I cannot find a solid answer anywhere online, but I have a MacBook Air (13.3" Early 2015 model running newest Mac OS) and I want to buy a used 27" Apple Display (model A1407) for use with my MacBook, but I don't want to keep the MacBook open while using it, I want the unit closed so I can move it out of the way (I don't need two screens at the same time) will I be able to do this? My MacBook Air has a Thunderbolt 2.0 port.

Another question if anyone knows, I do plan on eventually upgrading to a newer MacBook, likely an M1 model, will the 1407 display be compatible with a newer MacBook as well? Thanks!

Hi,

You can use 27" Apple Display closed-display mode via Thunderbolt 2 cable which comes with the display.
