I'm sure I'm missing something simple here but i did several screen recordings and stored them on my iCloud drive but when i try to playback them from my iphone from the Files app, i just get the information (file name and file size) screen regardless what file i change it to (.mov, m4v, mp4). Thoughts?

Does this only happen with screen recordings? Also, are you adding these recordings to the Files app using the share button when you access them in Photos, then adding them to Files? If you close the Files app and reopen, does the same thing occur?

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to play screen recordings once you save them to iCloud Drive.
Does this happen when on Wi-Fi as well as cellular data? Also, have you tried resaving them to see if they will play?

I am taking the screen recording from my MBP. Once I hit the stop button, it will show the “temp” file on the bottom right of the screen then save to the desktop. I’m taking that file and dragging it into my iCloud Drive from the finder. Opening and closing, restart, shutdown, or share button don’t seem to work in any combination.
Thank you for the response. Yes this does happen on both WiFi and cellular. I have tried to access them from both a folder I created and the desktop and same results.
