airpods connect at full volume. how do i keep from going deaf ?

since I got my new iPhone 12 my AirPods start at full volume and are ruining my hearing. Is there a way to set the volume before putting them in my ears?

Hi there sailorgrrl,

We understand that your AirPods are playing at an unexpected volume when you connect them with your iPhone. We’d be glad to assist.

To confirm, does this happen with every device you connect with your AirPods or only when they are connected to your iPhone? Also, let's follow the steps outlined here to see if they resolve this issue:

Change the AirPods volume while listening to iPhone

Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback. My issue was that the AirPods connected at a very loud level as soon as I put them in my ears and volume control on my new iPhone 12 didn’t work immediately. Rummaging through Settings, I set the decibel level to the lowest level and that seems to work at least for now. I don’t know if it’s and issue with the AirPod or the phone but is really bad glitch.
