Drum Kit not triggering sounds in Logic

I'm using a new Alesis Crimson II drum kit with Logic Pro X and Drum Kit Designer. The hi-hat (and occasionally other pads like the floor tom) will not trigger sound in Drum Kit Designer. I have tried remapping, but that didn't solve the issue and only caused me more confusion (simply assigning a new note didn't work). I'm not seeing a way to setup proper MIDI mapping within the drum kit module, so it seems it has to be done in Logic. I was using an older-cheaper drum kit for years before upgrading with no issues and no remapping needed. Been trying to solve this issue for months. This seems to be a common issue, but there doesn't seem to be any helpful solutions out there. Any advice?

Hi there,

In Edgar Rothermich's GEM books, he mentions the Advanced Settings in Drum Kit Designer. Can you have a play with those and see if this helps?

  1. Additional Settings ➐ (bottom)
  2. ‣ Input Mapping: This lets you map Drum Designer to external hardware controller. Choose one of the three setting from the popup menu: GM, GM+, and V-Drum.

Hope this helps and solves your query,

Eddie G.
