Can I use a Apple Watch (GPS) with Straight Talk by just pairing it to my iPhone by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi?

I've seen and read that (Cellular + GPS) Apple Watches are only compatible if your carrier supports it, but what i'm wondering is if I buy an Apple Watch (GPS ONLY) and pair it to my phone with bluetooth and Wi-Fi, will it work just by being paired even though i'm on Straight Talk? I have buds of mine that pair theirs to their phone without having the (Cellular + GPS) one and it works, but I'm wondering if it would work for me even though i'm on Straight Talk?
