Ordered wrong keyboard - possible to switch?

Hi all,

Today I went to pick up my new iMac 27" with some awesome specs such as the Intel i7. However I ordered a Magic Keyboard without a numpad, while my main use will involve the use of a numpad... I still have all the original packaging material but I already booted up my system and used the keyboard to login to my appleID (here I noticed the missing numpad ...). What are my chances to trade in this keyboard for the one with the numpad?

Okay, then contact AppleCare. If it's less than 14 days old you can also return it and re-order for any reason. I'm mentioning this as this might be the easiest route to take if Apple denies the switch.

Did you order it from an Apple Store or from Apple's online store or from a third party retailer.?

To request the change (it's Apple's or the third party retailers choice) you would need to make contact with either:

  • AppleCare if you ordered from Apple's online store or
  • The Apple store if you bought it from there or
  • The third party retailer you bought it from.

Here's what happened to me in 2019 at the Apple store. Ordered a new 21/5" iMac. It arrived with the non numerical key board. After about a week I decided I wanted the numerical keyboard. Went to the Apple store and they traded for $30 difference. Was notified a week later via email that they were refunding my $30. Pretty good deal considering my decision regards my first keyboard choice.
