my mac turns off at 50 percent

my MacBook randomly turns off at about 53 percent battery. I haven't even dropped my MacBook once or anything so I don't think its broken I just wanna know if I can turn on a setting or something that makes it last the whole 100 percent , also I relised that my battery goes down way faster that some other people with the same computer as me

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2

You can try using the energy saver feature in system prefs... to have your Mac go to sleep rather than turn off totally.. a tap of any keyboard key should be enough to wake it up... you can pick after what length of time you want it to sleep.. also, if you go to the large Apple icon in the top left hand corner of your screen and choose ‘about this Mac’ what does it tell you, eg, year of manufacture... mac batteries have a limited and finite lifespan and fixed number of charge cycles.. Apple considers them a consumable product.. eg once the charge cycle count has hit zero.. perhaps around 3 to 4 years, mayybee 5 years... then that’s it. The battery is finshed, done, and needs to be replaced/serviced . Period. Your mac will be usable but it will only run at half speed and capacity.. so it’’ll work, but it will be crippled..

-you might try resetting the smc/pmu and zapping the pram 3-4 times... that may recalibrate your battery and fix your problem... or not... hey, it’s free, so it’s worth a try..
