On the iMac, open the AirDrop location in Finder, and click on the "Allow me to be discovered by" drop down at the bottom, and set it to Everyone. Also make sure you have any firewalls disabled, and any Anti-virus turned off (uninstalled would be better) as they may block Airdrop requests.


Your iMac should appear as an option on your MacBook Air then.
