I recently acquired a used iPhone X. I can't set up Face ID because it seems like it can't focus on the face and tells me several times to raise or lower the screen. What can it be?

I had tried that procedure before without success. I think it is a Hardware problem so I will take the phone to a specialized center to have it checked what it is. On the net I have even found those who say that the fault of the malfunction is to be attributed to problems with the rear camera. I believe instead there is a problem with the proximity sensor that causes the phone to not be able to calculate exactly the distance of the face from the phone. Mine are just assumptions not based on anything concrete so I think it is better to have it checked by those who have the right tools to do it.
