Ipad factory reset

I want to factory reset my Ipad but it keeps requesting the apple ID which I forgot and cannot retrieve cause the email linked to the account no longer exists

You can reset it without the Apple ID, but it will then end up being activation locked instead.


You might not be able to resolve the activation lock


Follow the steps in this article:

If you forgot the passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is disabled - Apple Support

You will need to recover the password:


If you forgot your Apple ID password  - Apple Support


Once that is done, here are the steps to prepare your iPad

to give to your nephew:

before sell/give away iDevice: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351


You will not be able to completely wipe the iPad or give access to someone

else without having the AppleID and password used to initiate the

Activation Lock. Recover the password first, then follow the steps in the

second link.
