Having difficulty updating my iPad by iTunes. Restarted computer and iPad multiple times, and changed the cord. Any thoughts?

See If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. If you're trying to update using iTunes try over the air instead, or vice versa. That said if you have a first generation iPod mini it won't update beyond iOS 9.
