Hi there,
I have MacBook which is updated to Big Sur. My partner broke his phone, iPhone 8 and wanted to back the data up on my laptop before he gives it to repair. I know you can back up iPhone through iTunes, but new update of the system got rid of iTunes.
When I plug the phone through cable it is not found by my laptop. I must say that the screen is completely shattered so there's no way of even navigating the phone.
How can I back up this iPhone?

Note: Starting with Mac Catalina, Mac computers no longer use iTunes. Instead they use the Finder app. See this:

Good luck.
Connect the cable from the iPhone to the Mac. Stop.
Switch to the Finder. Stop.
Open a new window (command n keys) Stop.
Look in the Sidebar of that new window to see your iPhone device name. Stop.
Click the name.
Big Sur uses the Finder and not iTunes.
Connect the iPhone and open a new Finder window. The device name will show in the Sidebar.

Unfortunately as I stated in my question the laptop doesn't find the iPhone. I checked the 'Preferences' in Finder, but it still doesn't find the device in 'Location'.
New Finder window.
