Completely black screen tried power sequences and resetting PRAM but no joy - any ideas please.

There are a few things in here. Make sure you follow the steps carefully.
One guy put a flashlight to the apple logo on the back, and he was able to see his screen to log in, then the screen kicked on. Another guy used a keyboard shortcut. Hope this helps.
