iwatch signed into icloud wont open mac

Hey so when I go to enable the 'iwatch option' in the security and setting area on my mac, I am unable to click it on.

Once I click I am prompted with a popup box that says 'Your apple watch must be signed in to iCloud to allow it to unlock your mac.'

I am signed in and can not figure out why this is happening.

Update issue? Do I need to sign out and back into icloud on my watch?

Hey there, DossiDoe90!

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

Signing out of your Apple ID and back in is a good idea. It looks like the device definitely thinks you're not signed in which is causing this issue, so sometimes logging out and back in can refresh that account setting and hopefully get it working again.

It's also a really good idea to make sure that you aren't using two separate Apple ID accounts. This is a pretty common issue, where a user has set up two different Apple ID accounts without realizing it and is signed in to one each on their devices. This can definitely cause issues with syncing data and keeping everything cohesive between devices.
