how can I transfer photos and movies from my 2010 MacBook Pro to my new 2021 computer? I backed up all photos on an external time machine but my new computer is not compatible with iPhotos

Hi


You need to transfer the iPhoto library from the Mac, and open it in the Photos app which will then convert it to work with photos.


If you have a very old version of iPhoto on your old Mac (iPhoto '08 (v7.x) or earlier), then you need to use the library upgrade tool first on the old Mac before you transfer it. See:

If you use a later version than that, the photos app on your new mac can open and covert the library directly.
