Mac Mini M1 to IPad Pro with cable. NOT LUNA DISPLAY OR SIDECAR

QUESTION: Has anybody tried connecting the Mac Mini M1 to an iPad using an HDMI to USB-C cable?

I don’t want Luna display or sidecar, I want to know is a cable would work.

I want to use my IPad Pro as my only monitor and be able to connect it with a cable. Is that possible? Please, this is only a question for people who has tried it.

I haven’t been able to find anyone talking about this. Thanks

Mac mini, macOS 11.2

I have certainly tried it. I managed to get a whole days work in, although I wish my iPad were larger. You must set your Mac to auto-login, however, so that it automatically logs you in at boot and Duet starts up, since Duet starts after login. I then use the iPad keyboard and my Magic Mouse. See photo.
