Eye Strain

For those of us with visual processing issues, does anyone know if iMac screens are flicker free? I'm looking at the current available version, not the redesign available in May. And, how is the glare?

Ventura OS causes eye strain I just upgraded to Ventura on my Macbook Pro late 2021 M1 14", and immediately feel an eye strain - a sensation of an astigmatism - like they widened the lettering and it's pulling my eyes too wide to focus. I have never experienced any such thing from an update before. I am going to have to try and downgrade. WTF? I think they have made the FONT SO SHARP and THIN against a screen that also seems worse (brighter/transparent?) that it is hard on the eyes. Dimming the screen does not help see it any better. I just switched two things to improve a problem newly created by Apple: 1) I changed it to NOT ALLOW wallpaper tinting (which effects transparency and although fine in prior OS's, now adds to the strain), and 2) to DARK MODE - a mode I have never used nor preferred (since owning Macbooks since 2007) but at least it is a bit better. I do not feel like downgrading at the moment because I had bad luck with a firmware update on my Canon R6 recently and worried something worse will happen.

2019 27" iMac Brightness I have found that even with the lowest brigtness (1/4 increase with SHFT-OPTION) the screen is still to bright. I am not a big fan of dark mode either...........the brightness is causing eye irritation/fatigue. Has anyone else noticed this problem? I moved over to my 2017 iMac for the time being.

Screen Flickers after MacOS Catalina Update I can see many people posted about this issue and yet there is no action by Apple team on this. Screen flickers a lot on mac after the os Catalina recent update. I don’t know what the Apple team did in the new software update but my Mac isn’t working as it used to be. The screen flickers so much and it’s causes strain to my eyes after using it. Tried all the option like safe mode and all others but in vain. Can we have someone from Apple support team have this issue resolved?

Retina Display:

If available, purchase an iMac with a screen that is retina (not glossy).

Based on Personal Experience:

Consider purchasing AppleCare+ Protection with your iMac for the sake of replacement, due to a dead or flickering screen. My 2017 MacBook Pro flickered so many times that I had to send it in for replacement 11 times. Sent it in so many times, and being calm about it, I was given a 2018 replacement worth $2,500 USD, for no more than the purchase of my AppleCare+ protection on it.
