Music Playlist Sync Across Devices

I would like to have my iPhone and MacBook Music Library and playlists completely automatically synced via iCloud. My issue is that when I add a song to my playlist on iPhone it is not added automatically into the same playlist on my Macbook. Then, when I sync my iPhone Music with MacBook Music via cable, each version of the playlist is uploaded on each device, in other words, if I add a new song to the playlist "Night" (that I made the same on both devices) on my iPhone only, when I sync my iPhone and MacBook Music two playlists are created on both devices named "Night" and "Night 1". This demands me to then manually adjust and delete playlists which makes the experience frustrating every time.

I see how my explanation might be a bit complicated but I did my best to convey the problem.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.2

Hello josipart,

We understand that you want your music and playlists to sync between your MacBook and iPhone automatically, and we'd like to help.

Just to confirm, do you subscribe to Apple Music? "If you subscribe to Apple Music, your music is transferred automatically to all your devices and no syncing is required."

You can find more information about syncing music between your Mac and iPhone here: Sync music between your Mac and iPhone or iPad

If you do subscribe to Apple Music, and you want to sync your library on all of your devices, this page outlines those steps: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

josipart,

Thanks so much for following up with us. We want to make sure you have the information you need to sync your devices in the way that works best for you.

"You can choose to sync your Mac and your device automatically whenever you connect them. To turn on automatic syncing, select General in the button bar, then select “Automatically sync when this [device] is connected.” You can find more information about that in the first link we provided in our initial reply.

If you want to get more information about syncing content automatically, please check out the "Should I choose to automatically sync all my content or only specific items?" part of this page as well: Overview to syncing your Mac and your devices

If you'd like to sync your MacBook and iPhone over Wi-Fi, this page outlines that process: Sync content between your Mac and iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi
