Behringer RD-8 drum machine compatability with GarageBand in Catalina

Hello, I'm running Catalina on a macbook pro and when I plug in my Behringer RD-8 drum machine, the computer recognizes the mid interface, yet when I go to GarageBand > Preferences > Audio/MIDI it doesn't give the option of the RD-8 from the Input Devices (I only see System Setting).

Does anyone know if the RD-8 is not compatible with Catalina?

Or if you use GarageBand with a drum machine, are you running the in + out's from the drum machine into the computer with USB or does it need to connect with the Through rather than in and out?

Any help would be most appreciated as I can't get any sound out of the drum machine when it's in GarageBand though it outputs no problem directly to a PA....

Depending on your instrument, you should be able to connect it using USB or MIDI connector. The following resource has more information explaining how to connect your instrument:

The resource does mention music keyboard, however the connecting process should be the same. Be sure to review all details listed within, specifically the bottom portion.
