NORDVPN Can it connect on startup?

Is there a way I can get my NORD VPN to connect automatically on a restart? At present I have two options to connect by: 1) use Network settings to connect or 2) Use the NORD icon in my menubar? Ideally I'd like it to connect each time my iMac restarts - any thoughts would be most welcome.

If you've got the NordVPN icon in the dock, then you can right click and select Options/Open at Login. This may be what you want. If not, then contact NordVPN, who should be able to help you.

As for the anti VPN comments on here, I think I need to point out that VPNs are used with no problems on Linux, Android, and Windows, so why not on macOS? Linux is based on a reverse engineered version of UNIX, Android is based on Linux, and macOS is based on a fork of UNIX called Darwin. The people who run the VPNs have access to your logs, but they don't care, although your ISP and government do care.

BTW, did you know that Apple TV+ can help you learn another language? Apple TV+ videos are usually available with the soundtrack in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Not only that, but the French is available in French and Canadian versions, and the Spanish is available in Spanish and Latin American versions. Subtitles are available in English, all the languages I've just mentioned, and some other languages, including Chinese, Dutch, and Ukrainian. This facility is available on macOS, but not on the Apple TV+ app on Roku TV. I haven't tried it on iOS.

Not the answer you are looking for. Remove the VPN as per Developers Instructions and do not Drag and Drop to Trash. Doing so will leave artifacts of the application scattered in various placing within the OS.

Commercial VPNs are not needed on macOS, cause havoc, interfere with the normal operation of macOS and can even corrupt the OS. Generally - is mandated by Employer to connect to Office Network for the purposes of Off-Site work or maybe Banking would be the two exceptions for using a VPN.

As for VPN purporting to keep your Data Safe and Secure - the jury is still out on that claim.

My last answer was edited by a moderator. They didn't give a detailed reason. I think it may have been for posting links to websites containing streaming videos in various countries.

I'd just like to say that I like to watch streaming videos from TV channels based in Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Denmark, and some other places as well. Out of all these countries, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan are the most difficult to receive.

I don't know if I'm allowed to mention the names of any TV channels I'm talking about which require a VPN, so I've put this in a separate paragraph. The Netherlands - NPO1, NPO2, NPO3. Germany - SAT.1 and RTL (not RTL2 or RTL Plus) in particular. Japan - any or all channels. Try finding any videos to watch in Japanese. NHK World isn't in Japanese. Belgium - more or less all channels, including Een, Twee, and RTL TVI. Denmark - live streaming of any channel such as DR1 is usually blocked. TV2 is often blocked. Various thumbnails of videos appear with a Danish flag, indicating you can only watch them from Denmark. I think that these policies cause a lack of knowledge, a lack of understanding, and ultimately lead to WAR!

Is the VPN a mandatory requirement...work related (?)

A true VPN tunnel, for example between you and your job, or a Bank server would be of value, otherwise might be time to re-think the usage.

Using a VPN to bypass regional restrictions on streaming content is illegal.

Using a VPN to access the public Internet with the belief that you are somehow protecting your privacy or security is simply naive.

A "public" VPN is nothing more than a glorified proxy server. All you're doing is pumping all of your data traffic through a single untreatable entity to be used by them however they see fit.

If you believe they are not logging your activity or will not disclose it to law enforcement, you're delusional.
