Canadian spelling is possible but inconvenient

After concluding that Apple just doesn’t care about English speaking Canadians I did som experimentation.

Go to the “text replacement” settings and enter the American version as the “shortcut” and the Canadian version as the “phrase”.

Now it no longer “corrects” the Canadian spelling. It even seems to suggest the correct (Canadian) spelling as you type.

it is grossly inconvenient, but immensely satisfying to banish Ben Franklin’s spelling tyranny.

You might need to go with British settings instead.

Well, that just made it magically pop up as an option. Thanks.

That's odd it was not somewhere on your keyboard list. All the keyboards listed in the tech specs should be there regardless of any other language or region settings, as the keyboard governs spellcheck and it is supposed to be independent of where you are and what language your OS is running.

Let us know whether Apple's idea of Canadian spelling conforms to your own. I'm not sure how it does the -ize/ise distinction.
