How do I move or get rid of volume control overlay on macbook air M1

Hi,

every time I watch a movie and I want to change the brightness or the volume using my keyboard, I have this giant overlay in the center of the screen.

Is there a way to make it small, or change it so it looks like the one on an iphone or to get rid of it?

Thanks

MacBook, macOS 11.2

Thank you for your reply.

I used your link to ask Apple for that change or a possibility.

I also take from your reply that it’s not possible without modifying apple’s code.

I hope it’s already in the works since I doubt I’m the only one who has noticed this and asked for a change.

Best regards

First, thank you for your answer.

But let me rephrase, my goal is to reduce the size of the overlay or get rid of it, not make it twice as big and pretend it's ok because it's on the top right corner.

So I'm going to show the current overlay and the one on my iphone to show what I want and if it not possible, my question then is : Can I get rid of it completly so I can enjoy my content without having an overlay between my eyes and what I'm watching

Fig1 : what I currently have ans bothers me

Fig 2 : What exists on iOS and what I want.

Thanks

Correct on a code modification if that could be done. Though, that is impossible now especially on Big Sur. You see the OS is now even more hardened from such modifications. The OS in Catalina resided on a Read ONLY Volume Macintosh HD Data and users data was on another Volume called Macintosh HD

With Big Sur - the OS resides on a Sealed Volume Image that is also READ ONLY. It can not be modified except by Special Apple Instructions and code.

Do not hold your breath unless Apple decides to make this change

I've seen a few sites that say the only way is to disable System Integrity Protection which I don't want to do for obvious safety reasons.

But apparently this has been a topic for more than a decade, and Apple has made it harder and harder to make those changes. So there is little hope Apple will listen now :(.
