Wrong user file comes up when accessing PowerBook Pro from iMac

When I open the MacBook Pro folder showing on my iMac finder (networking), It shows 3 folders, a user folder which I don't use but which contains numerous files and folders; Macintosh HD which shows as a folder with 3 people holding hands, but can't be opened. Double-click and I get "The operation can't be completed because the original item for 'Macintosh HD' can't be found; and a "Test Folder" which has a DropBox alias which can't be opened, "The folder 'DropBox' can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents"

The big problem here is that the userfile I actually use on PowerBook Pro "X," doesn't show. If I open the "X's MacBook Pro" folder on the PowerBook Pro, I have access to "X's Public Folder" which contains a DropBox folder; "X" which is the actual user's folder I want to be able to reach from the iMac; "Macintosh HD" which contains "Applications," "Library," "System," and "Users;" "Users" contains the user folder which shows up on the iMac finder, along with "Deleted Users," "Shared," and "test" which contains unusable folders with a red circle containing a negative sign in the lower right hand corner.

Long explanation, simple question: How do I access the actual user folder, "X," from the iMac?

If you enabled Sharing on the laptop, then make sure you have shared the folder you want and that the macOS user on the laptop has access (aka permission) to that folder/file. This user will be the same one you are using when entering a username & password when connecting to the laptop from the iMac.
