problems with browsers

My new computer tells me "no windows available" when I want to use Chrome or Safari. This is a new computer and was not doing this before. How do I fix this problem?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Hey,

This is a duplicate question, and you can find the answer at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250187806.

You can try clicking on the trackpad lightly to open any of the apps. You might be activating force touch.

I have checked and confirmed on my MacBook, this is indeed the problem. Just give a light touch on the trackpad to open any app, and see if it opens. Clicking very hard will just show you how many windows of that app are open.

Thanks!!

What is the model year of your Mac? See Apple menu > About this Mac

Forum AI identified you as running macOS 10.13 High Sierra. Is this right? Because this is not a new OS, it was released in 2017, meaning your Mac is a 2017 model at max.

Moving on, if it an Intel Mac, try this steps:

Reset SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Reset NVRAM Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Restart the Mac holding Shift to enter Safe Mode. Once up, restart normally and check if things are working now.
