panic attacks in big sur

Yesterday & today I have had several panic attacks in Big Sur on a late 2015 iMac 27" running 11.2.3

It lists this;

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff801bffe407): "IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00::setPowerState(0xffffff93878ea9a0 : 0xffffff801e2602e0, 3 -> 2) timed out after 252365 ms"@/AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-7195.81.3/iokit/Kernel/IOServicePM.cpp:5382

Would anyone know what is causing this problem? Is it something I can remove myself? It seems to happen when doing back-ups to SSDs but cannot identify the source.

Notes:

  • Delete AdGuard
  • Delete Paragon Software, unless you REALLY need it. Ideally, use an ExFAT disk for sharing with PC/Mac.
  • Delete Memory Diag
  • Delete AdBlock

Now, startup in Safe Mode, How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support, Login, restart into normal mode, and test.

Cheers,

Jack

Hi ribbo39,

It is a "Kernel Panic", not "Panic Attack". Although, a Kernel Panic can give you a Panic Attack!

Anyway, I believe we need to proceed with an EtreCheck report. EtreCheck is a useful app to diagnose and identify issues, both hardware and software. It is trusted by many users. Please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Navigate to: https://etrecheck.com and get the free version of EtreCheckPro.
  2. Download it. It is a free and trusted app. It is often recommended here on Apple Support Communities.
  3. Open EtreCheck, and before running the report, be sure to check “Allow full Drive Access” at the bottom of the EtreCheckPro window.
  4. Run the report, and put it in a post, as seen here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211. We will then examine the report for issues in your Mac.

Cheers,

Jack

Etrecheck report 26-4-2021

Sorry for the delay in reply to your message. Had several other "attacks" resulting in me taking action to identify. I believe it was caused by a conflict between a couple of SSDs I was using as time-machine backups. Ran thru DU - first aid and all seems OK

Etrecheck report is below and hopefully you can read. Had tyrouble in getting to attach here.
