Can’t pass the hold near reader message

The past week I’ve had issues with using Apple Pay. I work at a store and have been using Apple Pay almost everyday there. Randomly last week I couldn’t get it to complete the transaction, it kept saying ‘hold near reader’. Tried multiple registers with no change. The cashier said multiple people have used Apple Pay that day with no issues. This has been going on for a few days now. I also had an issue with using Apple Pay in the Sephora app. Sephora app say something like payment couldn’t be completed, but I got a wallet notification with the purchase, but later got another wallet notification for a refund of that purchase. However, I was able to add money onto my Starbucks card (through the Starbucks app) with Apple Pay and had no issues.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 14.4.2.

I have also tried multiple cards in my wallet with no change. I have also turned off/on my phone a few times now with no change.
