I’m trying to arrange my photos and photos in albums I’ve created by the date the photo was taken. Following Apple instructions I opened the album and went to the More button to select Sort and there isn’t an option to Sort. What am I doing wrong?

Are you certain that you are in Albums and not in the Library option?

If you are in the Photo Library then the Sort option is not available when you select the More button.
Double Check that you are in the Photo Albums and then choose an Album that you have created and then select the More button.

Thanks! It worked for albums I created but it doesn’t work on the album named Recents (created by Apple I think)
how can I order my 9000 photos in my library by date order oldest to newest?
The fastest way is to select the photos (as necessary) and file them in albums. Then, as you have discovered, you can sort them chronologically.
