keyboard fail

Scrounge another USB wired or wireless keyboard (from another Mac or Windows or Linux or BSD computer), and use that.

There are ways to access remotely such as ssh command line access and screen sharing, but they all need to be enabled first.

If your keyboard failed, then you need to buy a new keyboard.

In the mean time, most any old USB Generic or PC keyboard will work in a pinch.
