iPhone MagSafe clear case cracks prematurely without dropping or abuse

Bought one of the first clear cases for my iphone12 pro from Apple directly 5 months ago. Clear case started developing a crack that propagate to the edge, a second smaller crack has just started. There are no signs of impacts, I never dropped it and took good care of it in mild temperatures of coastal California. Took to Apple Store, they did not refund. They repeatedly tried to sell me Apple Care even though that wouldn’t have covered it, but the Apple Store rep's reasoning was that if I have Apple Care, then I don’t need a case protector as any damage to their phone would be covered. He also said not many are buying protectors anymore because the phones are so durable (but buy Apple Care).

I got the leather case in the end, it seems much better. On the MagSafe case, they proudly display “Designed by Apple in California” on the inside ring, so I would think they’d stand behind their product even though the is an accessory. I did give feedback on the iPhone product on this problem, but no place to show them the photo.. I’m paying a premium for their MagSafe and expect better. If anyone has a suggestion to recoup some or all of their purchase, appreciate hearing of it. I can understand after a year or more of use the material can get old, but this only after 5 months.
