I’ve connected one hdmi to usb-c cable, straight from my monitor to my MacBook, I then connected a usb-c adapter to connect my second hdmi cable too which also has a plug in for usbc so I can charge my Mac, however only one monitor is showing?

I disconnect one of the wires and the other screen shows

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2
