Google Chrome download gives a grey box with a bright blue bar below

Zoom says I have to have a different browser to use it. So I'm downloading chrome. I get to an icon for chrome and an arrow and a folder. The only thing I can do is click on the curved arrow in the bottom corner of the foyer. This gives it a grey box with a bright blue bar below. What am I doing wrong?

Probably what you've already tried, but you should be able to drag that Chrome icon to the folder.

Also see the following from https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95346?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en-GB

Install Chrome on Mac

  1. Download the installation file.
  2. Open the file called 'googlechrome.dmg'.
  3. In the window that opens, find Chrome .
  4. Drag Chrome to the Applications folder.
    • You might be asked to enter the admin password.
    • If you don't know the admin password, drag Chrome to a place on your computer where you can make edits, like your desktop.
  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Open Finder.
  3. In the sidebar, to the right of Google Chrome, click Eject .
