My old iPad mini had a passcode that combines 2 letters and 2 numbers. Tried to factory reset it but can’t as it asked a 4 digit password??? For some reason can’t get in as it asks a 4 digit password - number only again. Tried to borrow a laptop to reset but can’t get the iPad to recovery mode. Can anyone help?
iPad mini, iOS 9
An iPad Passcode, for modern versions of iOS/iPadOS, is typically six digits; four digits, or optionally a mixed alpha-numeric Passcode can also be configured. Older versions of iOS defaulted to four numeric digits for the Passcode.
If the Passcode is unknown, not accepted, or your iPad is disabled, you have no alternative other than to follow this process:
If you’ve forgotten the passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is disabled – Apple Support
You’ll need access to either a PC (with iTunes installed) or a Mac (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of MacOS).
You’ll also need your AppleID and associated password. If these have also been forgotten, they can be recovered here:
To recover your credentials, you’ll need access to one of the following:
Unless you AppleID account has not been fully/correctly configured, or has been seriously neglected, recovery of the AppleID and password should not be difficult.
