This seems to be similar to issues others are having after the Safari 14.1 update 4/27/2021 that was part of the Catalina 10.15.7 update and it relates to JavaScript.

Test the following:

Turn off “Enable Javascript” in Safari: Preferences: Security

See if this resolves the the issue loading pages

This is not a solution since pages are only partially complete and lacks any Javascript functionality.

I am still searching for a fix.

Bottom Line: At this point this is most likely an Apple bug/issue related to 14.1 and they need to offer a fix other than an OSX reinstall and that reminds me of the #1 Microsoft Windows issue solution!

I will reiterate that Apple pulled the 14.1 update from Software Update on 4/30 on my Cat MBP machine, and from what I read they pulled it from most Cat and Mojave machines. Luckily I had not yet updated, so I was able to notice the absent update that showed for days prior. If they had not pulled it, I would worry about a fix. But for those of you frustrated with the unbaked release, I'm guessing they will reissue next week. They rarely take fault with their releases, but when they pull them, it suggests so. Once again, I would recommend the temptation not to push that update button for a few days and scour these posts before actually updating. It shouldn't be like that... but it appears to be more and more frequent.

Thanks for info - just to add. I fall into the category of having Catalina and after doing what I thought was a Security update that had been out for quite awhile - found out that the Safari update had been tacked on. I stopped several people from installing the update. The worst part is that even updating to Big Sur does not solve. Many people like myself always wait but the way this was rolled out was inexcusable.

I have issues with linkedin, instacart and expedia where I get progress indicators without page loading after updating to Safari 14.1 on mac os mojave 10.14.6. Using inspect element window indicates the same error on all above mentioned websites which may or may not be relevant to the error.

I got the same response from apple support backup and reinstall or upgrade to big sur and the problem "may" get resolved.. Could you please tell me if reinstall in the above thread resolved issue on mac os mojave.I don't have a separate external drive for time machine backup and a manual backup may not be the optimal route to resolve this issue.

As a side note the above mentioned website render correctly on firefox 88 on same platform ruling out any network issues.

@loerak

Hi,

I accessed your NGO site and did not have any issues clicking on various items. I have the latest release of Safari Version 14.1.1 (15611.2.7.1.6, 15611) on Catalina 10.15.7.

Can you provide steps to recreate the issue?

What is your version of OSX and Safari?

I have seen some postings by people with older versions of OSX still having issues.

Hope this helps.
