suddenly iPad won't deliver texts to Android

Hi all,

I have a 5th Generation iPad running iOS 14.5 . I have always had no problem whatsoever with

my iMessage app being able to send text messages to Android phones ( green text balloon ). All of a

sudden within the past two days I'm not able to send or receive messages from Android phones. I've done some Google searching on this and it seems to be a somewhat common issue but I've tried all

the fixes that I could find and still nothing. My iPhone Xs is still able to send and receive texts to and from Android phones, but I do most of my texting on my iPad. I use the same Apple ID for all my devices and

they are all logged in. Not sure what could have caused this or what the fix will be.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the input. That is excellent information. None of the fixes helped so far. A question for you is this:

I started having trouble sending texts from my iPad ( WiFi only ) to Android devices soon after I had installed a texting app

called Text Free on my iPad and my iPhone. I am using the texting app so that I can have a separate phone number for discretionary communication. It works well but I wonder if that texting app has anything to do with my WiFi only 5th Gen iPad suddenly being unable to send texts to Android devices via iMessage? I can still send texts to other Apple devices with iMessage.

Any thoughts?

Hi wunwspirit,

That definitely is something to look into. Try uninstalling the text app, restarting the device and testing it to see if the issue persists. If the issue is the app, you may need to reach out to the text app developer for further support.
