When will there be an update to the iPassword app for iOS 14.5? I'm unable to get to my passwords.

I too had this problem. I spent a day trying to recover my Ipassword data after the 14.5.1 update. Checked with Apple which was a dead end, surfed the internet for solutions and finally came up with one that worked for me. I downloaded the trial version of iMazing software which extracted the iPassword software/data which I was able to install on an old phone that I have.

I did have to go into my purchases in the App store with the old iphone 5 and download iPassword from there as it no longer shows up in the general app store list. Once I had iPassword on my iphone 5 iMazing populated the password data from the backup I made from my iphone XS. I downloaded the iMazing software from their website rather than on CNet or other aggregators of software online, seemed less sketchy to me, plus, there are tutorials on their website. . Anyway, the free version worked for me, I'm thinking of buying it just to support the company for saving me the headache of resetting all of those passwords.

Pretty unacceptable that an update would brick software that's so mission critical without warning. Maybe Apple could write into iOS updates a list of software that would become incompatible before the update is installed? Then users can make sure they have a backup of their data.

I have been watching this thread and must comment on the kindness, patience, and wisdom which deggie has shown in trying to help all of you who have been affected by this unfortunate case of a developer abandoning his app. He has explained that Apple bears no responsibility in such situations. Deggie could have called it quits and walked away, but he continued to address the many angry comments and has tried to help as many of you as possible to recover your important data. I hope you all have learned an important lesson. It is a very good idea to keep a written backup of passwords and other important data in a safe place because we can never be certain that an app we are using will continue to exist next week or next year. I learned the hard way that even back-ups can fail, so I always keep more than one back-up and though I use a password manager, there is always a written copy kept in a safe place that I can fall back on. Good luck to all of you and a big Thank You to deggie!

Fix: (if you backed up your data to a PC using iTunes...may work if you backup data to MAC but not totally sure since I have not done it that way yet).

Download the Password Manager (free version)...the App icon is silver with a gold border and the description below the app title says "Lock Apps Safe Vault". Once app is downloaded, set up the vault password by using the same one you used with iPassword. You get a popup window asking if you want to backup by email...say no. All you then have to do is to do a restore of the backup data the exact same way you did with iPassword thru iTunes.

Apple isn’t going to do anything. You can try to borrow an old iPhone from someone you know or look in your keychain settings, you may have a lot of your passwords there. Beyond that no one has come up with a better solution. Trust me, I freaked out when my passwords were locked. I spent an entire day trying to figure out a solution for myself. Now I’m trying to help other people out but I am amazed at the inability of most to read the thread. There are maybe two solutions in there that work. Not commenting on you just a general observation.

I have the same problem after the iOS 14.6 update. The worse thing is the developer create a new version of iPassword (now call Password manager with different logo) which is exactly the same as the previous one in design and functionality. But the new app say on the pop up note that it can't restore the data from the previous version. This is so irresponsible and doggy !!!!!!!!!

below is the link of the new version of iPassword at app store, I am sure it is developed by the same people:

I’m not a techie person at all but I did it. Restored all my passwords with imazing. I finally found someone with an iPhone 5 and not updated. I’m treating this little phone like gold until I can get all my info off.

I followed this link and followed the step by step. I had problems here and there and almost 2 hours later it worked. Don’t give up.

I have the same issue and I have a suggestion.

The developer has another app on App Store. It's called Password Manager ' and it has been updated recently. I suggest everyone with the same issue to download the developer's new app and write review about the problem with iPassword there. This might help to give the developer some pressure on the developer to update iPassword. It has been more than 6 weeks since the problem occured. It's really frustrating.

After you bakup the phone with the non-working app, select "manage apps".

Click on the ipassword app and then the small down arrow right above the DONE button. Here you can select backup app data.

This should create a file on the computer called: ipassword.imazing.app

Then connect the old phone with the working version of the ipassword app.

Select manage apps again for this phone, select the ipassword app, then the down arrow (above Done) and click on restore app data.

This should put you passwords on the old phone in the working version of the app!!!

I have been dealing with the same issues I freaked out because all my passwords were posted, after stressing and staying on hold I spoke with a rep at apple and I'm going to tell you how I found a lot of my passwords. Not all but at least I can breath. If you go to settings and then to passwords with the grey key and click you will see all the passwords you have entered into your phone. I hope its like that on your phone or my settings were just set in my favor, but several were there for me. Good Luck!
