I too had this problem. I spent a day trying to recover my Ipassword data after the 14.5.1 update. Checked with Apple which was a dead end, surfed the internet for solutions and finally came up with one that worked for me. I downloaded the trial version of iMazing software which extracted the iPassword software/data which I was able to install on an old phone that I have.
I did have to go into my purchases in the App store with the old iphone 5 and download iPassword from there as it no longer shows up in the general app store list. Once I had iPassword on my iphone 5 iMazing populated the password data from the backup I made from my iphone XS. I downloaded the iMazing software from their website rather than on CNet or other aggregators of software online, seemed less sketchy to me, plus, there are tutorials on their website. . Anyway, the free version worked for me, I'm thinking of buying it just to support the company for saving me the headache of resetting all of those passwords.
Pretty unacceptable that an update would brick software that's so mission critical without warning. Maybe Apple could write into iOS updates a list of software that would become incompatible before the update is installed? Then users can make sure they have a backup of their data.
I purchased the so called pro version of ipassword which works with the iOS update and restored all the data from iCloud. That worked
But is it possible to go to an older Iphone, restore your account and open the Ipassword app?
Then copy all the info manually...
I used imazing and it worked for me, but I didn't have to pay $35.00 for it. The free portion worked. I just copied the iPassword app only and copied it to an old iPad.
Follow these instructions. Search for "iPassword data recovery for iOS 14.5" in this forum. This works.
There is a method to recover passwords posted in this forum search for "iPassword data recovery for iOS 14.5" in this forum and follow the instructions
I actually left a bad review for the **current** app and I suggest we all do. Something to the effect that hundreds, maybe thousands of us were left without access to *years* of passwords. The old app doesn’t even show up in current listings so a bad review won’t be seen. Hit the current app with complaints now. That should get his/her attention.
For everyone struggling with this. Look at the post by Cpens. If you have another iPhone/iPad laying around. You can revert that one to a previous version. Even 14.5 worked for me. It’s just the 14.5.1 that killed that app. Then use iMazing. It’s super easy!

iPassword needs to updated by developer...Developer took a hike and Apple does not offer a support, funny uh! Apple accepts the app by the developer and developer says "Can I go whenever I want and leave million of people out of luck?
Apple replies "Sure..who cares" This is exactly what happened.
What I did was first bought an iPhone 6 like someone suggested and did not work, but hopefully a friend had an iPhone 8
I was able to backed it up with a backup that I had from October of 2020 and open de iPassword app and took a bunch of pics
of the relevant passwords I had along with SS#s medical notes and more. I was able to recuperate all the data fortunately.
I was able to follow @CPens instructions using iMazing to backup my phone, then download iPassword to my iPad and restore it back to my iPad, which I hadn't upgraded iOS yet. The instructions took a while but worked! Thank you @CPens
I looked at the app. It doesn't appear as if there is any way to get the data out. When I was looking for a way to save my passwords in iMazing, I was able to open the .data files on my computer, but because they are encrypted, they were gibberish.
The developer has a twitter handle and he did respond to one person who contacted him, for what it's worth. Maybe you could try contacting him and asking him to add the option to export to CSV, if he actually updates the app. It's @setnul. He responded 3 days ago.
If you are trying the iMazing option to get at your iPassword info keep in mind you may have to do an unencrypted backup before attempting to extract the App data. This is what worked for me. See previous posts from CPens who pointed me and others in the right direction. Good Luck!
ok let me list down the steps i followed
1/ Connected my phone to the computer using Imazing software, under files >> app >> i had to search ipassword and copy that on to my mac. ( this take a little time and space since Imazing will need to back up your entire phone )
2/ Downloaded the ipassword app on my i pad which had 14.2
3/ connected my iPad to the computer and again using Imazing software this time i the app previously copied from my mac to iPad. follow the instructions on the screen when back up is being restored
4/ Next, ipassword app opened, first thing i did was take an back up
5/ downloaded ipassword ( different version similar app from app store) ran the Back up and had access to all my data again
Trust this helps
Breakthrough: the developer has a Twitter account @setnul. He is fluent in English and has responded to those of us who have tweeted to update the app. Only a handful of users have tweeted. If you are having this problem please use twitter to reach out so they understand that this is not an isolated issue.
This is a user-to-user technical support site operated by Apple, no one from Apple management is here. You were ripped off by a developer who abandoned their app, created a new one to make more money, failed to notify the user base of this and is misstating a claim of a restriction. Look for a reply from C-Pens in this thread and see if his method using iMazing can help you.
Read the entire thread.
It isn't Apple's place to do such testing and notification, you aren't using an app made by Apple. It is up to the developer to update their app to work and to notify you regarding the fact it won't work if they are not going to update it. There are some workarounds here to get your passwords back including buying a newer more expensive version of the app.
