Auto play not working Apple TV

Hi! I have most streaming services known to humankind and just gave a whirl to my free trial version of Apple TV to watch Ted Lasso on my Firestick. Am realizing that auto play is non existent, and doesn’t resume the episode where I left off!? Isn’t this a very basic and standard feature in streaming? I may have to choose to not continue with the paid subscription if this turns out to be provider error and not user error! Thank you for your advice and experience in advance.
