Re-indexing Spotlight - Outlook for Mac

Recently I have been unable to search within Outlook for Mac. The suggestion came up to re-index my Outlook mail folder from my "hidden" Library folder. Easy enough to do, but my question is;

Can I view the status of the re-indexing for Spotlight?

Search Feature on Outlook for Mac does not find all items I am using Microsoft Outlook for Mac Version 16.38 on my work computer, which is iMac (21.5 inch, late 2013) running macOS Mojave 10.14.6. The search often only returns a subset of the entries that is should return (which are returned correctly when I used the web based version of Outlook). I tried the fix of dropping the "Main Profile" folder into Privacy in Spotlight and then deleting it. This did not fix the problem. I contacted Microsoft and they suggested dropping the Macintosh HD icon into the Privacy tab and then deleting it. But I am afraid to do this because of the message I get when I go to drop it in: Are you sure you want to prevent Spotlight from searching in "Macintosh HD"? If you exclude this location from Spotlight searches, the search feature won't work in some applications. Is okay to do this ? Or is there a safer way to fix the problem? Thank you.

Excluding Library folder from search? Is it possible to exclude the Library folder from a Finder search? I have the Outlook app on my macbook, and a standard search brings up ancient emails, attachments, and so forth, which makes sorting the hits from the chaff a bit tedious. Edit: Now I'm really confused: Search doesn't seem to search for files in the Library most of the time (at least, a quick search of some known files didn't find them), BUT, it picks up all the Outlook files in the Library. I'd love to have a way to exclude those.

How do I search for folders in Mac Mail? Older versions of Mac Mail used to show mailbox folder in the search bar. In updated versions, this has disappeared? Is there are a way I can tweak something in settings and have this back? I create and manage MANY folders and subfolders in the inbox and this function was very valuable.

Re-indexing Spotlight won’t affect that app. For further assistance, please contact Microsoft Support. This is a Microsoft app, not an Apple app.

Cheers Jack, unfortunately what I have done above is exactly what the 'help' function from Microsoft tells me what to do.

It says to apply the folder to the spotlight privacy function, and remove it again, to force spotlight to index.

I'll delve deeper into microsoft outlook, and see if they have any other solutions.
