Often time's while I am working, I listen to comedy or videos on youtube or netflix but with the screen on. Is there any way I can make notifications go to my watch even with the iPhone screen on?

There does not appear to be a way to force iPhone notification to the Apple Watch if the iPhone is open. And the reverse, where if iPhone is closed, it will not sound an alert, and that will instead go to the Apple Watch.
