4K Apple TV audio sync issues?

My 4K Apple TV seems to be having audio sync issues when it comes to me playing any of my movies through home sharing. I have three other Apple TV set a third generations and neither one of them seem to be having this issue. After a couple of minutes into movie the audio and video get out of sync. I tried factory reset, I changed hdmi cable, even tried audio calibration, rebooted my iMac running home sharing. It’s only affecting my 4K Apple TV. Any suggestions to fix?

There are a number of people who are experiencing audio sync issues after upgrading to 14.5. I had it on my AppleTV 4K. Apple support had me take it in for repair and since it was still under warranty they just replaced it with a new one. My new one has 14.4 installed and I no longer see sync issues with the audio.

I was also experiencing audio popping and crackling on the videos that showed sync issues. I hope that Apple can get these issues fixed soon. While I'm ok with keeping 14.4 on my AppleTV, I had upgraded my iPad and iPhone devices and now can no longer downgrade them back to 14.4.

Hi,

Like a lot of people the AppleTV hardware has the "update automatically" box checked :-)

And there is limit to no way to downgrade after the updates happen.

There has been a new upgrade that sort of fixes it, but it does look very fragile and playback on some files isn't that great at this point.

After giving it some time to see what shakes out, I updated to 14.7 and it is working so far. I made sure to turn off auto-update a long time ago. I wish I had never updated it in the first place. I am extremely hesitant now to buy the new 4K model of Apple TV. I am now using InFuse on the Apple TV for viewing my converted from disk movies and such. I have started using Roku for everything else. At this point, I see no need in buying the new Apple TV, especially not with the issues I/we all have had with the recent update fiasco. Who knows what a future update will break. I say if it is working, leave it as is. The updates really don't offer any benefits that I can see.

I had the same issue on new AppleTV 4K (5th gen). All you have to do is use the audio sync calibration setting. Just go into your audio settings.

Why did you update if 14.5 was working. Did Apple make you update.

If you depend on automatic updates you need to learn not to complain when things do not work like you want. Control the system do not let it control you.
