Unlocking iphone while abroad (restore iphone not working)

I'm away from the country where I originally bought the iphone and I asked my carrier from my country to unlock it. I received the confirmation message saying that the iphone was now unlocked and I just had to restore it.

I've tried to restore as new and with backup but popup saying that my iphone is unlock just doesn't show up.

Anyone knows any other way to go about it or can anyone share a step by step guide to see if I'm missing any step in the process?
