Mac mini M1 Dolby Atmos Support

A similar question has already been asked and it referenced a Dolby Developer chart indicating it's not supported on Mac minis due to lack of integrated stereo speakers...

If this is the case, why does Dolby's web demo work in Safari on my headphones flawlessly? How is this managed through a web browser but not through any native Mac OS apps?

It’s not working flawlessly, it’s working as best as possible on stereo headphones. “Not supported” does not mean “won’t work” but “won’t work as intended”. In other words, to test if it’s working flawlessly, you need a 5.1 or greater speaker system.

I have DA systems in my home. While the Mac sounds fine it does not contain the correct up firing speakers or the correct separation so it cannot produce accurate DA. That does not mean it does not sound great to most listeners.

To appreciate Dolby Atmos requires a certain speaker arrangement that a Mac or headphones cannot do. The sound will just be stereo on those devices so not to worry.

It sounds very surrounding and dimensional... have you tried it out?
