wifi not resolving IP on MBA M1
After quite some convincing I got my wife to buy an M1 MacBook Air believing it will have fewer issues than a Windows PC (because I've never had any issues with my Apple products ;-) ). This is her main work computer, and she does not have IT support (except for me) being a sole proprietor.
The work area where she sits has a wifi connection. Here iPhone 12 and all other users on the network can connect to the wifi. In most cases here MBA also works, then every now and then, for a few days, it will not work. From what I could debug today via facetime is that it does not get an IP address from the DHCP (the IP resolves to 169.x.x.x). I've tried to give it a static IP and that did not seem to work. Turned wifi on and off, removed wifi from known network list, and added it back (did not ask for the password again, which is not what I expected).
The previous time it happened it was still able to connect to my home wifi and for a time to her hotspot, but then the hotspot stopped working as well. It then resolved itself after a few days...
I know there is an update pending on the laptop, but from what I read it contains the Rosetta kill switch because of the Intel battle, and she will not be able to work without Rosetta because of OneDrive and Teams, so I'm hesitant to update.
Any other tip for me? I'll try some of the tips on this site tonight, but it not easy to figure out the problem without TeamViewer and me sitting at work.
Kind regards
Christo
