iPad Pro 11 + iPad Magic Keyboard — How to use keyboard while not docked?

Hi -

Is it possible to use the iPad Magic Keyboard with an iPad Pro 11 when the iPad is not docked with the keyboard (e.g., they are not physically touching/connected)? I have tried several different approaches and have been unable to get this to work. Below is a photo of generally what I have in mind, but I'd be mounting the iPad using a different stand and using the iPad Magic Keyboard.

I'm a graduate school professor and I'm trying to mount the iPad Pro using a different stand to get a better camera angle for my virtual classroom lectures and discussions, but would still like to use the Magic Keyboard despite it not being docked. If the Magic Keyboard does not support this use case, are there other keyboards that will?

Thank you!

Hello Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

The Smart Keyboard you linked uses 3 prongs to connect to the back of the iPad, that is used to power the keyboard along with input the key commands to the iPad. So to answer your question no, you would need a different type of keyboard for that. if you want a wireless keyboard I will link a few below:

You can also find other compatible ones on Amazon, Best Buy etc. however they might not be the same quality as the ones Apple sells.

I personally recommend the Apple Magic Keyboard that I linked up above, it is elegant has a good amount of key travel and is on a wedged kind of shape that feels really natural, its just like Magic.
