Option-Click Hide Behavior (Super Annoying)

Hello,

I'm a Visual Effects Artist and I've been using my macbook for on the go portable work. I've found the Option-Click Hide Behavior to be super annoying since option-click is how you tumble 3D viewports on many 3D Software. Is there any way to disable this behavior natively? All I've found is this thread from 8 years ago that didn't really pose a great solution about the issue. (https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/71307/how-can-i-disable-the-optionclick-hiding-behaviour)

Thanks in advance!

Hi dblanco1796,

Welcome to the Apple Community where some of us do our best to help each other.

Sorry I don't have much expertise in keyboard shortcuts, but fortunately Apple Support has articles online to help.

On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Keyboard, then click Shortcuts.

In each app you can turn various shortcuts on or off, or add a new shortcut of your own.

You can also find many keyboard shortcuts in the Apple Support article Mac keyboard shortcuts.

The Mac User Guide has more info on keyboard shortcuts to explore

You might want to scroll down this article (link below) to:

"You can customise some keyboard shortcuts by changing the key combinations."

or

Disable a Keyboard Shortcut

You can create your own keyboard shortcuts for menu commands in any macOS app, including the Finder. This might be useful if a global shortcut, which works the same with most apps, conflicts with a specific app shortcut. In this case, you could create a new key combination.

Hope there's something here you can use for a solution :)

Hi brbo,

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately this still doesn't solve my issue 😢

I think this has been an issue in the OS for a very long time from a decent amount of research on the internet. This is the behavior in action. (I'm holding the option key while clicking on my terminal window which causes hides my browser - not to be confused with minimizing it in the dock)
