Do I understand correctly, the AirTags only makes a sound if disconnected AND if moved? I plan to leave it in my car, which I park at various spots and sometimes forget where that is, as I sometimes don't use it weeks.
It would be inconvenient, if the AiTag beeps all the time.

I am experiencing the same problem and so is my wife. We have a total of 8 all together and sometimes the airtag wants to re-pair with my iPhone as it did when I first purchased them. Does this mean anyone can take ownership of my airtags? This is a big security flaw if it’s not iCloud locked like all of my other Apple products.
We deserve an explanation for the obvious flaw that renders them very expensive over glorified battery holders.
Mine still do this about every three weeks. They will not make a noise as how they are supposed to operate then in three weeks time they all start chirping. Every time they are moved. The keys sit overnight. In the morning when I move them they chirp. When my dog moves from her nap they chirp. This is consistent with all four of my air tags. There are no new devices that have been introduced into my home. Nothing has changed. They are still all doing this. This is embarrassing as I have one in my vehicle and every time I enter my vehicle it’s such chirping. I have to tell my passengers to ignore it.
Got one for our dog, her behavior totally changed and she became a nervous wreck. We realized the tag was randomly chirping! We’ve removed the tag from her collar and hope she recovers from the emotional distress it has caused her
This is no joke Apple … you need to place a clear product warning on the product.
It's happened to me three times now when picking up keys with the tag on
Spoke too soon - now all three are, including the one on the dog’s collar, which is driving him insane.

Same here. We have four airtags, three currently in use, and only one keeps randomly making noise.
Mine seems to have stopped doing this now so maybe it's a temporary glitch

Same happend to me right now. My car has an airtag and I drive the car every two days.
now suddenly it made about two or three times the cute noises. But why??
This just happened to me. I picked my keys up off of the kitchen counter (I had my phone with me) and the Air Tag started making noise.
