Do I understand correctly, the AirTags only makes a sound if disconnected AND if moved? I plan to leave it in my car, which I park at various spots and sometimes forget where that is, as I sometimes don't use it weeks.
It would be inconvenient, if the AiTag beeps all the time.

This is supposedly a feature that makes the tag chirp if it's been separated from the phone it was associated with for three days or more. I think the idea is that someone would hear it and then they could bring it near any iPhone to discover if the owner has reported it lost.

Since my wife went away for the week I need to take it off the dog before she has a nervous breakdown (my dog, not my wife, but my wife would have one too if she saw the dog freak out when the tag goes off!).
My keys are always with me and it randomly makes noise. So annoying!
It’s a feature to prevent someone from tracking unknowing people. But it seems to kick in way too easy. Probably because the tag loose contact with the phone even when it’s close by.
This has happened daily to me since putting an AirTag on my keys. It pings for about 10 seconds when I pick the key ring up. Not sure why…
My airtag also keeps beeping in the way they’re only suppose to beep when setting up the device. Happens when I move my keys, not always but about a few times a week. Will try to set it up again.
Keep your iPhone’s Bluetooth on. It helps the Tag recognise your phone.
Yes, I put inside my car and and AirTag sounds without request. Sometimes people in my car ask "what is thay sound" and I have to explain everytime.
I am experiencing the same problem and so is my wife. We have a total of 8 all together and sometimes the airtag wants to re-pair with my iPhone as it did when I first purchased them. Does this mean anyone can take ownership of my airtags? This is a big security flaw if it’s not iCloud locked like all of my other Apple products.
We deserve an explanation for the obvious flaw that renders them very expensive over glorified battery holders.
Same happened with me but after reading the apple support stuff i am still unable to solve my problems. Can any body please guide how can i fix my Airtags issues.

That wasn’t what was happening. What was happening us that while it was in my pocket it would randomly go off and then stop. Or, when I picked it up it would go off. However, they seem to have updated themselves and I no longer have the problem.

I have an airtag on my dog, he has been with me and it has chimed twice now today without my request or my husbands request. I only have one Apple ID however we have two IDs in the family. The dog does not love the noise and I haven’t found any solid answers on why it’s happening. Both times my phone has been within Bluetooth range. He’s a dog so obviously it moves, the first time was when I first picked his collar up in the morning. Posting in hopes that someone with Apple responds or looks into an obvious issue.
does anyone have any articles or links to what might cause this or anything? I can't find a single thing and I'm not going to bother going to an Apple store or ringing cause they will have no clue like always. Or even better, "escalate it to an engineer" who you get one email from then never hear from or get a response from again as has happened every time I have contacted them with a genuine issue that they don't seem to be able to solve.
Mine does this too. Seems like the tag looses contact with the phone and thinks it’s lost.
Maybe it’s related to older phones not having all Bluetooth features (if that is the case)? I have an IPhone X.
My car key tag suddenly chirruped in the ignition as I was driving yesterday. My house key tag sometimes chirrups when they are in my pocket while walking. Sometimes it happens when they are moved first thing in the morning. It is all so random not to mention annoying. Just wondering - does it make any difference whether or not Bluetooth is on?
Still no answer to my question and this is frustrating!
I have my tag hidden in my dj bag, just incase it gets stolen /lost.
if it gets stolen and it’s making sounds the thief will locate the sound and see it’s an Apple tag… thus ditching the tag and me never getting my bag back!
I only want the tag to make sounds when I request it… can this be done?
I Have an iPhone 11 Pro max so its not related to an older phone issue. @dennison199 well there is a fault or bug then. I will literally be in our back shed and when I come inside and near my car key air tag, they beep. It's like its reminding you that you are close again. This is not how they are meant to function AT ALL.
It doesn't seem to have done this for a week or two if anyone knows of any changes.
