Safari favorites are gray with a letter and not showing logos.

Hello, I just got my new iPhone 11! I moved everything in it from my old Iphone 6s and everything is working great.. The only thing that bothers me is safari favorites icons. They turned gray and only showing a letter instead of the webpage logo. When i revisit the sites the logo reappears but is lost every time i restart safari. I'm on ios 14.5. I don't have any problems on my old 6s or my iPad air 2019.

Hoping for a solution. Thanks!

**** Albireo78,

Website icons in Safari are fantastic, and ensuring those icons remain in your favorites tab is important, and we're here to help. You've walked through great troubleshooting steps by revisiting the websites, and restarting Safari. To clarify a bit further when you visit the website are you doing so via a private browser? If so, exit private browsing to see what occurs. If you continue to have issues try restarting the iPhone using the steps outlined in the following article.

Restart your iPhone

Have a great day!

Thanks for your answer.

I have already tried to restart my device twice, but the problem remains. I have also cleared the cache but no luck either. I am not in a private browser. For now i have visited all the sites that are on my favorites until the icons appear and i am keeping safari open in the background. While i keep it open i see all the icons. I am afraid that if i close safari they will be gone (as they did all the other times i did close safari) but i am hoping for an answer before i will have to restart my browser.

That's completely understandable Albireo78, and we're glad you tried those steps.

When you close Safari are you only exiting the application, and going to the Home Screen, or are you closing the app entirely? If the app is not being closed, try restarting the iPad with the app open to see if the issue persists.

If the website icons continue to disappear you may want to reach out to Apple via the Get Support website.

Take care!
