I want to continue watching an Apple TV rental on my tv that I started in my iMac but it won't let me? It's not playing in my iMac but the error on my apple tc says "to play movie title" stop watching it on your device, but I'm not play it in another device?

This content can’t be played on this Apple TV I am trying to access movies (from my imac mini )that I have purchased from apple and it should link to my computer on my Apple TV ….. yet it keeps coming up with “this content can’t be played on this Apple TV “ ……. Apple TV not working Have recently signed up to Apple TV using a windows PC. When I try to view a movie it gives me a still image with play free episode, and two play it free options. When I try to get any further it signs me in but goes no further. Help

Apple TV is not Apple TV+? What kind of “plus” version of an app actually omits features that are in the regular version of itself? I own movies in my Apple account and can play them on iOS with Apple TV. Yet when I log into Apple TV on my cable box, I am not allowed to access that library. I can only watch their streaming programs. So in what sense do I own these movies? Only in certain versions of Apple TV? In which case how can they call the cable box version of their app “Apple TV+” when it’s actually minus an entire feature of viewing purchased films? is this not totally @$$ backwards to anyone else? To make matters worse there remains no Apple TV app on Windows, so I can’t use my laptop as the only remaining option in reach. I’m relegated to a poorly supported iTunes app, which doesn’t even launch my movies despite all the troubleshooting. Quit with this walled garden mentality already, Apple. Play nice cross-platform.

Restart both devices, then try again.

If the issue persists, sign out of your account for the TV app/iTunes app on your Mac, then sign in again.
